The tale behind the Edith Mary goldmine

Historical Society Member Dr Lyall Ford looks into the life of the late Albert Reckitt, who passed away during March 1905.


Albert was to establish with John Henry Mills with a photographic studio 'Reckitt and Mills' in Mackay prior to relocating to Mount Britton.


Prior to Mackay, Albert had been a professional photographer at Cooktown.

Mr. Reckitt's daughter, Edith Mary Reckitt is also mentioned in the article. A Gold Prospecting Claim, now a mine was named in Edith's Honour, near Mount Britton.
