A look at the life of Edwin James Welch

Historical Society Member Dr Lyall Ford has looked into the life of Edwin James Welch who died on September 24, 1916.

Mr. Welch, during his life he was to be a Barman, Foreman, Justice of the Peace, Photographer, Station Master and Surveyor along with working for the Department of Public Works and the Electric Telegraph Department.

He also was a founder of the Mackay Standard Newspaper - which is no longer in publication.
